The holidays are getting closer and closer, and you need to step up your SEO game. Out of all the companies that use SEO (i.e. any that actually wants to market its products) many forget just how important changing things up for the holiday season actually is.

Indeed, to stay ahead in the business world, you need to use up every avenue, manner, type, method, way, style, leadership programme you can get your hands on. Messing about with your SEO before the holidays is one of the easier and more effective ways to do this.

Create appropriate content

The first thing you should do is actually focus on the content you give out. It should be festive, it should be happy, and it should deal with the actual holidays. It’s a lot different when you put “Christmas deals” vs. “December deals”. Techniiicaaally they are both correct, and both will drive more traffic. However, the first option will give you better results.

Using backlinks in your content will do wonders for your SEO. But, what most forget is that they should update these links for the holidays. Good links increase your trustworthiness, they show potential customers that you are a company that should be approached. Furthermore, a link leading to your site on somebody else’s will potentially net you new customers and followers. It can cause a chain reaction that can lead to more and more traffic. However, don’t forget to spruce them up.

Learn from people, see what the marketing experts are doing. They adapt, they change. Getting your links inside of websites that may see more traffic during the holiday seasons may just be the thing you need. Place the link somewhere on their landing page, on places that offer some special holiday deals and sales.

Harden up your website

Now there are some basic things to keep in mind when creating a website. One of the main ones is dealing with oncoming traffic. You will, hopefully, see many new clients and many people visiting our website. This, in turn, may cause it to slow down, to make the load times move at a snail’s pace. This is the last thing you need. Nothing turns off a customer more than an unresponsive web page. And if you have a special and popular holiday sale, things can get much much worse. One option is to invest more in your website, but that may not be cost effective in the long run. The other option is tweaking it a little. This can, of course, be easier using certain tools, analytics software, things of that nature. But, no point in that if you can’t think of good keywords. Now, the problem with that is that it is impossible to give concrete examples without having more information about somebody’s company. The best way to approach it is to put yourself in the shoes of your customers who would be interested in your product. If they have a problem that needs solving, and that it can only be solved by your company, how would they look for such a product? What would they type in? Furthermore, since this is the holidays we’re talking about, how would they change it up to get the best deal possible for the happy season?

Proper timing is key

Doesn’t matter if you’re trying to win over millennials or boomers, the rules are the same – it’s all about proper timing. We suggest that you begin your holiday SEO efforts at least 5 weeks before the period you are targeting. And you want to be done at least two weeks before. This gives some space for customers to actually find what you have to offer, check it out for themselves, and maybe even place an order. If you got everything ready five days before the holiday, you are very, very late.
